Holiday Classic On The Big Screen

This week's movie offering at the Winthrop Town Centre will be the Christmas classic "It's a Wonderful Life" at 7 p.m. Friday on the east wall of Publix supermarket at Providence Road and Bloomingdale Avenue in Riverview.

The film is part of a free family movie series offered Friday nights. James Stewart and Donna Reed star in this story about George Bailey's discovery, through hurdles such as financial ruin and arrest, that he truly has had a wonderful life.

If Christmas lights delight you, Barrington Oaks East should be your destination.

The community off Lumsden Road between John Moore and Bryan roads offers a spectacular display.

Share The Gift Of Story Time

Do you have a favorite children's book that you would like to give to a child in need?

Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 122 Brandon Town Center Drive, Brandon, is holding a holiday book drive to benefit the Redlands Christian Migrant Association, which provides child care and early education for children of migrant farm workers and rural, low-income families.

Shoppers can purchase a children's book that will be given to an underprivileged child in the Brandon area. The store hopes to collect 2,000 books before the drive ends Jan. 1. For information, call (813) 685-5503.

So You Think You Can't Dance?

Do you have two left feet?

Art and Bernice May are certified ballroom instructors, and they are ready to teach a few basic dance steps at the Summerfield Community Center in Riverview.

The rumba, cha cha, fox trot, waltz, salsa and swing are some of the dances offered.

On Fridays, ballroom dancing is held from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m., and rhythm and dance classes are offered from 8 to 9 p.m. Cost is $8 for Summerfield residents and $10 for guests.

Two Ways To Be A Secret Santa

Give your holiday spirit a stretch by contributing to one of the following toy drives:

•Estrella Tropical Latin Restaurant & Deli, 1941 E. State Road 60, Valrico, is collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Hispanic Services Council from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Friday. Call (813) 643-8700 or visit www.estrella tropical.com.

•The Florida Aquarium, 701 Channelside Drive, Tampa, will collect unwrapped toys worth $10 or more in exchange for $10 off the cost of admission from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Only one toy is allowed per visitor. Children can have their photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Some of Santa's elves will take a break from their busy schedule to perform a SCUBA dive in the aquarium's coral reef at 11 a.m. Admission is $17.95 for adults, $12.95 for ages 3 to 12 and free for ages 3 and younger.
