SCARE THE CROW FUNDRAISER: Plaza Bella, 1078 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico. A 'Scare The Crow' fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today. Local businesses and organizations are invited to build scarecrows to be auctioned off to benefit the charity of their choice. Brandon Honorary Mayor George T. May IV will judge the contest. Awards will be given in three categories: trendiest, best and brainiest. Plaza merchants will offer activities throughout the day, including games and face-painting for children, music, door prizes, refreshments and merchandise discounts. Call (813) 685-9494.
LIFE IS GOOD PUMPKIN FESTIVAL: FishHawk Ranch Information Center, 16144 Churchview Drive, Suite 113, Lithia. Newland Communities will host the second annual Life is Good Pumpkin Festival from 4-10 p.m. Oct. 20 to raise money for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. The festival will be a celebratory community event incorporating good, old-fashioned outdoor fun and family participation. Residents, neighbors and team members can enjoy a day of pumpkin carving, scarecrow stuffing, face painting, live music and more. 'THE LEGEND OF FRANKENSTEIN': Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon. Footlights Theater Productions will feature 'The Legend of Frankenstein' at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27. The play is based on the novel by Mary W. Shelley about the famous monster brought back to life and is filled with memorable moments. 'HOWLOWEEN' FUNDRAISER: Dapper Doggie, 881 E. Bloomingdale Ave., Brandon. Dapper Doggie will hold its second annual 'Howloween' event from 5:30-8 p.m. Oct. 27. The entry fee for the canine costume contest is $5. Donated food and drinks will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit Kids and Canines, an anti-truancy initiative that pairs at-risk middle school students with golden retrievers. HALLOWEEN ROUND-UP: Brandon Family Moose Lodge, 804 S. Miller Road, Valrico. The Halloween Round-Up will be from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 27 on the lodge property. Members will hand out free, wrapped candy in front of the lodge. The event is open to everyone. Call (813) 689-6043.
HALLOWEEN HORRIBLES PARADE: Center Place Fine Arts and Civic Association, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon. Center Place will host a Halloween parade at 3 p.m. Oct. 28. Costumed children up to age 10 are invited to participate accompanied by an adult. There will be treat stations along the parade route sponsored by area civic clubs and businesses. HALLOWEEN FUN FOR BABY: Stroller Strides, 459 Brandon Town Center Drive at the Westfield Brandon mall. Stroller Strides will host its third annual Stroller Spook class at 9 a.m. Oct. 30. The free fitness program for moms will be followed by a Halloween party for babies. The baby with the best Halloween costume will win a prize. Picture People will be on site to provide free 10-by-13 baby photos.
