Music Showcase To See Pink For Benefit
This month, Music Showcase at 402 Oakfield Drive, Brandon, will get in the fundraising spirit for breast cancer research. The center will hold a fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, accepting donations and selling pink ribbons, colorful ribbon cards, pink cupcakes, pink lemonade smoothies and pink M&M cookies. The Music Showcase staff will wear pink during the event. Students, parents and customers can help by volunteering. Proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Call (813) 685-5998.

Golf Tournament To Aid Sammy Charity
The Sammy Sullivan Memorial Golf Tournament will start at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Summerfield Crossings Golf Club, 13050 Summerfield Blvd., Riverview. Sammy Sullivan Charities is part of the Greater Brandon Community Foundation, which will receive proceeds from the tournament. Sammy, the son of Joe and Brenda Sullivan of Lithia, was 22 months old when he contracted a flulike virus and died. Halloween Fun For A Good Cause
Newland Communities and the Life is good clothing and accessories retailer will hold the second annual Life is good Pumpkin Festival from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the FishHawk Ranch Information Center, 16144 Churchview Drive, Suite 113, Lithia. Good, old-fashioned outdoor fun will abound as residents, neighbors and team members enjoy a day of pumpkin carving, scarecrow stuffing, face painting, bean-bag tossing, live music and more. Refreshments will be available for sale. Proceeds will go to HomeAid, which helps the homeless, and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, which funds research into childhood cancers. Gun Show Returns To Fairgrounds
The Suncoast Gun Show and Sale returns to the Charles M. Davis Special Events Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. 301 N., Tampa. The show will offer something for everyone, including collectors. Featured items will be firearms, gun-related accessories, gun parts, gun tools, knives, cases, locks, cartridge boxes and belts, ammunition and more. The show will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. A concealed-weapons class will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days for $40 per person. No appointment needed. Admission is $8 for adults and free for ages 12 and younger. Parking is $5 per car and $10 per recreation vehicle or bus. Scouts To Reach Out Around The World
Amateur radio enthusiasts in Brandon will participate in the 50th annual Jamboree-On-The-Air, whose theme this year is Around the World in Fifty Hours. The jamboree is an annual event during which about 500,000 Scouts and affiliates contact each other via amateur radio. Millions of Scouts have met each other by joining in the jamboree. Participants can share experiences, exchange ideas, learn from each other and gain a mutual understanding. The Mid Florida DX Association will host Scout troops throughout Hillsborough County who want to participate from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Bertha & Tony Saladino Park, 1705 Bryan Road near Dewolf Road. Amateur radio stations will be set up, and a variety of communication methods will be used and demonstrated. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, their families and the public are invited to attend the event. Tom And Huck Go Fishing
Center Place Fine Arts and Civic Association will feature Mark Twain's classic 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,' a story about a young boy growing up in a town along the banks of the Mississippi River.
This combination of adventure, humor and nostalgia will be presented at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Center Place Children's Theater, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon.
