LITHIA - LITHIA - Alderman's Ford Park was reopened Sunday after being closed for two days because the park's water system was contaminated.
John Brill, a spokesman for the county's Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department, said officials with the county health department authorized reopening the park after two consecutive days of tests showed the water at the park was safe to drink.
Brill said the OK came about 10 a.m. Sunday.
The park was closed after health officials discovered coli form and E. coli bacteria in the park's water after the system had been shutdown for routine maintenance.
Brill said the contaminants were probably introduced while workers were cleaning the systems water tank. The tank provides the park's drinking and bathroom water.
Alderman's Ford Park is off County Road 39, near Lithia-Pinecrest Road.
