CONGRESSIONAL UPDATE: Winthrop Barn Theater, 11349 Bloomingdale Ave., Riverview. The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Congressional Update at noon today. Confirmed speakers include U.S. Reps. Adam Putnam and Gus Bilirakis, who will present an overview of current congressional discussions and how federal policies affect local businesses, education, health care and quality of life. SMALL BUSINESS WORKSHOP: The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, 330 Pauls Drive, Suite 100, Brandon. The chamber will host part two of its 2008 Working Smarter Workshop Series from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday. Participants will learn marketing fundamentals, strategies and dealing with competition. SPANISH BUSINESS START-UP SEMINAR: The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, 330 Pauls Drive, Brandon. The chamber and the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund will join forces to provide a free business seminar in Spanish for the Hispanic community from 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 27. Guests will get information necessary to start or improve their businesses. Discussions also will include licensing, financing, marketing, legal structures, free business counseling and more.
