ZONING ACTION

Hillsborough County zoning hearing masters have recommended the following area rezoning and land-use changes be approved when the county commission considers them Sept. 9. For information, call (813) 276-2058 or go to www.hillsboroughcounty.org/pgm/zoning.>

•Building 6,000 square feet of business or professional office space on the south side of Bloomingdale Avenue, about 200 feet west of Bryan Road. RZ 08-0956.

Brandon

•Building 16,000 square feet of retail space or offices, such as a big-box store, and/or 300 apartments on 25.87 acres about 900 feet east of Falkenburg Road, between Palm River Road and the Selmon Crosstown Expressway. The developer originally asked for approval of 200,000 square feet of retail space and 400 apartments. MM 08-0787.

•Increasing the number of hotel rooms allowed on 64.02 acres on the east side of Falkenburg Road, about 600 feet south of Balagye Run Drive, from 90 to 125; increasing the number of apartments from 300 to 735; and adding 55,000 square feet of unspecified non-residential uses. MM 08-0789.

•Building a private school for 42 children from kindergarten to grade five on .46 acres at 1305 Zellwood Drive. SU 08-0851.

East Lake

•Allowing a used car lot on U.S. 301 to display vehicles on 1.41 acres on the west side of Bowles Road, about 120 feet south of Gerry Lane. RZ 08-0923.
Palm River
•Allowing intense commercial uses on 6.9 acres at the southwest corner of Maydell Drive and Causeway Boulevard. RZ 07-1874.

•Building 26 town homes and 6,200 square feet of retail or office space on 3.54 acres on the north side of Madison Avenue, about 660 feet west of 78th Street. MM 08-0409.

Thonotosassa

•Expanding Dinosaur World on Harvey Tew Road onto an adjoining 21.3 acres, about 400 feet west of Branch Forbes Road. The property will include a new admissions building, restrooms and office space. The parking area also will be expanded. RZ 08-0567.
Turkey Creek
•Building a convenience store on 2.44 acres at the northwest corner of State Road 60 and Turkey Creek Road. RZ 08-0920.

Valrico

•Adding a 3,000-square-foot playground and splash park to a day care facility on 2.61 acres at the northwest corner of Mulrennan and Lumsden roads. MM 08-0133.
