Pottery Patch Hosts School Supply Drive

The Pottery Patch, a pottery painting studio in Valrico, is sponsoring its annual School Supply Drive to benefit the Emergency Care Help Organization in Brandon, which helps families in crisis.

Supplies needed include pencils, paper, binders, crayons, backpacks and shoes for children. Bring donations to The Pottery Patch, 2551 State Road 60, Valrico, today, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 'People Get Ready' To Welcome Rod Stewart

Live Nation will present singer Rod Stewart in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ford Amphitheatre, 4802 U.S. 301 N., Tampa.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $91 and $61 for reserved seating and $41 for lawn seating.

Visitors are asked to use the entrances at U.S. 301 North or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

'80s Music To Take Center Stage

FishHawk Ranch will host the last of the summer concert series Music Under The Stars with The Spazmatics performing new wave music from the 1980s.

The concert is part of the community's annual Summer Concert Series at Park Square in the Garden District, 16144 Churchview Drive, Lithia.

Poker, A Steak Shoot And Country Music

American Legion Alafia Post 148 will host three days of activities in celebration of Labor Day with a poker tournament, drawings, food and entertainment.

The events start at 1 p.m. Saturday with a Texas hold-em poker tournament. A $30 donation from each player will help support U.S. military troops. First prize is $300, second prize is $200 and third prize is $100.

A steak shoot, a game similar to bingo in which winners win steaks, starts at 2 p.m. Sunday. Then the post will have an open house with food, entertainment and drawings from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday. Country singer Jenny Rimmer will perform.

Find The Hidden Treasure

The Greater Brandon Arts Council and Brandon League of Fine Arts will sponsor Hidden Treasures of Greater Brandon, a free event, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 6.

There will be art exhibitions, performances, music and art demonstrations at various locations. Final activities and drawings will take place at Center Place Fine Arts and Civic Association from 5 to 7 p.m. To be considered in the drawings, participants must pick up programs at each of the following locations and have each stamped:
