Bloomingdale High School Coach Jason Stokes has been named the Buccaneers 2008 Coach of the Year.
Stokes was scheduled to be presented with a trophy and $1,000 for his efforts by Buccaneers general manager Bruce Allen before kickoff at today's Buccaneers home game.
Under Stokes's direction, the Bloomingdale Bulls finished the season 6-5 overall and 3-1 in district play, earning the team its first winning season and first playoff berth in the school's 21 years as a varsity program.
Prior to being named head coach at Bloomingdale in December 2007, Stokes served as an assistant coach at Riverview High School for five years.
The former Wall Street trader moved to Florida in 2003 to become a teacher and football coach at Riverview.
