New Year's Gala
The Knights of Columbus will host a celebration of gratitude for the blessings of 2008 and hope for 2009 at Nativity Catholic Church's Social Hall. The event will begin with appetizers at 6 p.m. today.
Mass will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the church, 705 E. Brandon Blvd., Brandon.
Admission is $75 and includes a gourmet dinner, dancing to a live band, drawings and a New Year's toast.

Quarter Horse Circuit
The 42nd Annual Florida Gold Coast Circuit will be held in the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. 301, Tampa.
The three-day event will run from 8 a.m. today through Friday. Quarter horses, their owners, trainers and riders from across the country will compete in English, western, driving, reining and trail classes.
Times will vary by day. Entry fees and stall rentals will apply for participants. Admission and parking is free for spectators.

Holiday Baseball
Ostingers Baseball Academy will offer a Holiday Baseball Camp for ages 7 to 15 at the FishHawk Sports Complex, 1612 FishHawk Blvd., Lithia.
The camp, coached by professional baseball instructor Jim Osting, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

Home Improvement
The ultimate craft show for home decor returns to the Charles M. Davis Special Events Center, featuring many local and national artisans.
Show hours are Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission for ages 13 and older is $6 Friday and $5 Saturday and Sunday. Parking is $5 for cars and $10 for RVs and buses. Visitors should enter at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard entrance.

Young Artists Workshop
Center Place Fine Arts and Civic Association will offer ages 8 to 15 an opportunity to learn the steps for better drawings and paintings.
The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 17 at 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon.
Professional artist Sue Allen will explain and demonstrate composition, color, drawing skills and watercolor painting to interested students.
Students also will have the opportunity to create a work of art. All supplies will be provided. Cost is $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers.
