BRANDON - The Streak is over.
Brandon's wrestling team lost to Homestead South Dade 32-28, in the finals of the Jim Graves Challenge the Streak Dual Meet Tournament Saturday night at Brandon. The loss snaps the Eagles' national-record winning streak at 459 and national-record unbeaten streak at 468.
It is the Eagles' first loss since Feb. 20, 1973, when Bradenton Manatee defeated Brandon 28-19 in the final dual meet of Brandon's 1972-73 season. Brandon and Manatee tied 24-24 on Jan. 26, 1974, nine matches into the 1973-74 season; therein lies the nine-match difference between the national record streaks.
