BRANDON - The public is invited to a tea tasting and book signing from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 26 at Victorian Grace, 616 N. Parsons Ave. Local inspirational authors of historical fiction - Debora M. Coty, who wrote "Billowing Sails" and "The Distant Shore," and Ruth Carmichael Ellinger, author of "Wild Rose of Lancaster" and "Wild Rose of Promise," will be on hand to sell and sign books.
"There will be no charge for the tea tasting, which will include ... a delightful assortment of flavored teas and ... lovely finger foods sure to tickle the daintiest fancy," Coty said. "Their regular menu items will be available upon request" for the regular prices.
Venite Adoremus At Latin Mass
SUN CITY CENTER - Monsignor Harold Bumpus, pastor of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Blvd., will celebrate a Tridentine Mass, the traditional Roman Catholic Mass in Latin, at noon Feb. 3 in the Monsignor Diego Conesa Great Hall.
"Pope Benedict XVI, in October 2007, signed a universal indult - or permission - for priests to celebrate again the Mass used throughout the church for nearly 1,500 years," said Karen Ryan, director of public and media relations at Prince of Peace. "Everyone is invited to attend."

Newcomers Group Plans January Events
BRANDON - The Thank Goodness It's Saturday group of the Tampa Bay Newcomers will gather at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at a member's home in Brandon for food and conversation. Guests should bring $1 and a beverage, an appetizer, fruit or vegetable tray or dessert.
Other club events this month will be the club's Divot Divas playing golf the morning of Jan. 25, the monthly newcomers' luncheon at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 22 at a local race track - reservations are required by Tuesday - and a Beach Bunnies' trip to the beach Jan. 23.

Auxiliary Offers Boating Safety Class
BRANDON - The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 74 Brandon invites the public to attend America's One-Day Boating ABC Program from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 19 in the training room at West Marine, 1516 W. Brandon Blvd., or Jan. 26 at Power Source Marine, 10909 U.S. 92 E., Seffner. This course will target people considering getting a boat, new boaters, those who have been away from boating and need a refresher course, boat passengers who may be called on in an emergency and boaters younger than 21. Minors are required by law to complete such a course before operating a boat or personal watercraft by themselves.
Topics will be safety, navigation, boat handling, weather, emergencies and correct use of boat trailers. Those who successfully complete the course and exam will receive a boating identification card, which may be presented to insurance companies for possible discounts.
The registration fee for each course is $40 for one person and $35 for each additional family member. Robert Lowry, public affairs officer for the flotilla, said the program fills up fast.
