As Pat Fore planted his feet on the approach and prepared to show everyone in the Oakfield Lanes James Rivard Pontiac GMC Men's League how perfection is accomplished, one thought and only one circulated through his mind:
"Oh Lordy, Lordy, just don't embarrass yourself!"
Several seconds later, "embarrassment" was a forgotten word as consecutive strike No. 12 was marked on the telescore and Fore had his third lifetime 300.
"I was pretty much in the pocket during that game," said Fore, "but that 12th strike was the best ball I threw all night. There was no doubt."
The 300 was the middle game of a 160-300-231 - 691 and came as the result of a drastic mental change after the low opener.
"I was leaving 10 pins in the first game and missing some of them," Fore said. "So, I changed my approach and line. I moved to the left and played a tighter line."
Previous perfect games by Fore came at Florida Lanes and at the old Crown Lanes, now known as Pin Chasers Veterans.
