RIVERVIEW - Anyone interested in helping out a group of Riverview students can do so while enjoying a relaxing round of golf.
The eighth annual Shark Golf Tournament will benefit the Riverview High School varsity boys soccer team.
"I figure we could either play a round of golf or we could do about five car washes," said Darik Olson, head coach.
The Summerfield Crossings Golf Club, 13050 Summerfield Blvd., will host the Sunday event, which will have a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start and will be played under the best-ball format.
In a best-ball tournament, all members of each team play their own balls on each hole. At the completion of the hole, the lowest score among team members serves as the team score.
The prize for the winning team will be a free round at the club.
Olson said the event typically draws 40 to 50 competitors. Thirty players are signed up for this year's tournament, which is open to all ages, but Olson is hoping for more.
"Anybody can come out and play; the more, the better," he said.
In addition to the best-ball round, the tournament's $60 fee covers a lunch buffet as well as participation in long drive and closest to the pin contests.
"It's a fun day, and we use the money we raise to get stuff for the team that the county won't get," Olson said.
