This Fun's For Women Only

Center Place Fine Arts and Civic Association will host its 17th annual Wild Dame Night, an evening for women only, starting at 6 p.m. with social time and wine. Dinner will be catered by Affairs to Remember, and the decadent desserts that have become a trademark and tradition of Wild Dame Night will again delight guests' palates.

This year's entertainment features "RaFUNzel - Locks of Lushes" by Stages Productions. Tickets are $60 a person and are available through Center Place.

The event sells out early, so purchase your tickets soon. Tickets may not be reserved, and Center Place does not accept credit or debit cards.

Dance, Dine Do Some Good

Here's your chance to enjoy a fun night out and serve as good Samaritan at the same time.

The Friendship Club at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, will sponsor a dinner and dance from 6 to 10 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Nativity's Outreach, Food Pantry and Food Bank, which provide food, clothing and other needed items to the Brandon area's poor and homeless. A donation of $15 is requested per person.

Tickets are available at the Ave Maria Christian store at 222 Bryan Road, Brandon, and the church office.

It's Showtime At The State Fair

The Florida State Fair will be a feast for all the senses, with food, rides, performances and other attractions for the whole family. The fair opens at 9 a.m. Feb. 7 and will run through Feb. 18.

Closing times will vary depending on the day of the week. Visitors can enjoy an abundance of events, including fireworks, a Las Vegas revue, professional wrestling demonstrations, the Elvis Extravaganza Impersonator national finals, a roller derby championship and Country Gold Tour 2008, featuring many popular country singers.

There also will be food vendors, games and prizes. The Tampa Tribune is among sponsors. Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for ages 6 to 11 and free for ages 5 and younger.

Golf, Poker, Auctions Featured At Fundraiser

Hit the links at the Greater Brandon Community Foundation's 2008 Charity Golf Classic and attend related events Feb. 7 through 11, and help raise money for Brandon area charities. Events will be:

•Tournament of Champions - Registration will be at 8 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Feb. 7 at River Hills Country Club, 3236 Stonebridge Trail, Lithia.

•Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament - Registration will be at 2 p.m., followed by the tournament at 3 p.m. and Celebrity Pro-Am Pairings Party at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, 5223 Orient Road, Tampa.

•The First Tee of Tampa Bay/Brandon Invitational Golf Tournament - Registration will be at 8 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Feb. 11 at River Hills Country Club.
