Published: June 25, 2008

Ever since Nadia Helton took the "fun" out of bowling about two years ago, she has posted some "serious" scores.

For example, in the past year, the 23-year-old junior at the University of South Florida has captured singles honors in the Tampa Women's tournament with 662 scratch and 752 with handicap.

She won the Tampa 600 Club Tournament.

Then Helton traveled to the ladies state tournament in Daytona Beach a few weeks ago and came home with championships in singles (672) and all-events (1,939) in Division 3 (158-175 average).

Her all-events included 646 in doubles and 621 in team event.

"I've been bowling since age 5," said Helton, "but I really didn't take it seriously until about two years ago."
