Art Show Boasts Local Artists' Talents
There's time to browse the works of some of the Brandon area's talented artists as the Brandon League of Fine Arts hosts its annual members' art show at Center Place's Mook Gallery, 619 Vonderburg Drive.
The artwork by professionals, semi-professionals and amateur league members with three to 75 years of experience represents disciplines including watercolors, pastels, acrylics, oils and collages. The exhibit is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday. Admission is free. Call (813) 829-9569.

Equestrian Championship Comes To Fairgrounds
More than 100 Special Olympics athletes will participate in equestrian competitions at the Florida State Fairgrounds, starting with opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The competitions begin at 7:30 p.m. and will continue at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center. The contest will include dressage, English equitation, stock seat equitation and working trails, pole bending, barrel racing, showmanship at halter or bridle, and unified sports drill team.
Admission and parking for spectators are free. Visitors are asked to enter the fairgrounds via the Orient Road entrance. Call (813) 621-7821.
Village Players Present 'Gypsy'
The Village Players, featuring actors Mollie Anderson, Domin Pazo, Gina Giordanno, Maren Julian and Jeremy Stauffer, will perform the Broadway classic "Gypsy" about Gypsy Rose Lee, the archetypical stage mother who pushes her daughters into Vaudeville.
Performances will be at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The James McCabe Theatre, 506 Fifth St., Valrico. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors. Call (813) 689-0044 for information and reservations.

Hot Wheels, Family Fun To Benefit Area Vets
Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 U.S. 301 N., Tampa. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 787 will host its fifth annual Charity Classic Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The event will feature music, drawings, a silent auction, food vendors, face painting, inflatables for children and more. Admission is a $15 donation the day of the show. Advance tickets are $12. Awards will be given to the top 25 cars for best paint, best engine, best interior, best club participation and best of show.
Visitors can donate blood for military veterans at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa. Call Tom Hall at (813) 655-7129.
Acting Troupe Presents Murder Mystery
MurderS She Wrote will present the comedy "Murder on the 19th Hole" at 6 p.m. Saturday during a dinner theater performance at the Radisson Hotel, 20967 U.S. 19 N., Clearwater.
Performers include Brandon and Valrico actors Tisha Goble, Tyler Leavitt, Pepper McGowann and Jill Revelle. Audience participation will help police solve the murder mystery. Tickets are $46 and include dinner and show.
