BRANDON - It wasn't all about the bingo.
Dozens of active seniors at the Senior Fun Fest strutted their stuff with an early morning walk around Sadie Park, then hightailed it onto the dance floor inside the Brandon Community Center for a little electric slide action.
Native New Yorker Trude Zukowski chatted up the crowd during the Sept. 26 event, wearing a whimsical balloon sculpture wrapped around her head. The Valrico resident perused vendor displays touting senior-specific services centered on health care, financial planning and retirement housing.
Belinthia Berry, Hillsborough County Department of Aging Services spokeswoman, said the annual event simply celebrates seniors. The crowd enjoyed live entertainment, free health screenings and lunch courtesy of the county.
Zukowski said she came to meet people and to fill her swag bag with freebies.
"Plus," she said, waving goodbye as she maneuvered through the crowd, "I love my new hat!"
