Brandon Man Jailed In Electronics Theft Spree

TAMPA - A 22-year-old Brandon man is accused of stealing computers and other electronics since August from three construction sites, several vehicles and a townhome development, records show.

William Milan Hurtak was held at the Orient Road Jail today on $40,250 bail. He is charged with multiple counts of felony burglary, felony grand theft and felony criminal mischief, jail records show.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested Hurtak about 8 a.m. Thursday during a traffic stop and is searching for a 16-year-old boy and another teenager, affidavits state.

During the traffic stop, deputies found Hurtak with a crowbar and a 50-inch television worth about $2,500 that had been reported stolen from an office at the Avelar Creek-Taylor Morrison Inc. townhome development in Riverview, affidavits state.

Hurtak is accused of burglarizing two construction sites in the 9900 block of Delaney Creek Boulevard in Tampa on Aug. 28 and 29, affidavits state. He used the crowbar to break into office trailers and took a television, a laptop, computer monitors and printers, a microwave and power tools, all valued at about $7,200, affidavits state.

Between Sept. 3 and 4, Hurtak struck another office trailer at a construction site at 9672 Progress Blvd., stealing laptop and desktop computers and power tools worth a total of $900, affidavits state.

Deputies said Hurtak also burglarized a self-storage and truck rental parking lot at 1010 W. Lumsden Road, Brandon, smashing into a Hummer, a Lincoln Town Car, a Ford Excursion and a Chrysler 300 Limousine, among other vehicles. He took three global-positioning system units worth a total of about $900 and caused more than $1,000 in damage, affidavits state.
