PHOTOGRAPHERS LAUDED: Edward Booth and Betty Huth, owners of Huth and Booth Portrait Gallery, 11711 Nikki View Drive, Brandon, received the Florida Service Award for service to the profession at the Florida Professional Photographers Annual Convention in Orlando Aug. 27. LABER PROMOTED: Susan Laber has been promoted to the chief nursing officer of Brandon Regional Hospital. Laber replaces Cheryl Goforth, who was promoted to chief nursing officer at Trident Health Systems in Charleston, SC. Laber was the interim officer and assistant officer at Brandon Regional from 2006-08. She recently relocated with her family from Sarasota to FishHawk Ranch in Lithia.

TENNIS SHACK OPENS: The Tennis Shack of Florida recently opened at Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center, 405 Beverly Blvd., Brandon. The store offers a full line of specialty brand tennis equipment, clothing, shoes and custom stringing services. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. BUSINESS WOMAN OF THE YEAR: The Brandon Sunburst Chapter of the American Business Women's Association will hold its annual Pioneering Woman of the Year dinner and awards presentation from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Brandon Elks Lodge, 800 Centennial Lodge Dr., Brandon. The keynote speaker will be Mary Ann Stiles of the Stiles, Taylor and Grace law firm, a director on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Tampa and past director on the boards of the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority and the Hillsborough Community College Foundation. 'GREEN' MOVING BOXES: Boxes on Wheels, a retail business based at its distribution center in Tampa, recently opened service centers at Suncoast Rental, 2617 Brandon Blvd., and The Wood Shed, 2301 Brandon Blvd. The company sells new and used moving boxes composed of 100 percent post-consumer recycled materials and offers other moving supplies. APRON'S OPENS: Publix Super Markets recently opened its first stand-alone Apron's Make-Ahead Meal classroom at 5672 FishHawk Crossing Blvd., Lithia, in the FishHawk Crossing shopping center. Apron's offers scheduled sessions during which customers visit various stations stocked with recipe ingredients, assemble their own meals and package them to take home. Each meal feeds from four to six people. Prices range from three meals for $59.99 to 12 meals for $189.99. The store also offers premade, take-out meals. RETIREMENT INN OPENS: Whispering Willows Retirement Inn recently opened at 3005 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon. The inn, a converted private home which can house up to five residents, is billed as a unique alternative to typical assisted living facilities. Proprieters Lynn and Bill Romero, formerly owners of a bed and breakfast in North Carolina, aim to provide seniors with professional health care, social stimulation and a warm family environment.
