Thursday
Are You Water Wise?
The Hillsborough County Extension Office at 5339 County Road 579, Seffner, joins Hillsborough County Water Resource Services to sponsor free workshops on the efficient use of water.
The workshops will include information about creating healthier and more beautiful landscapes, improving lawns, saving time and money and micro-irrigation techniques. A free starter micro-irrigation kit will be available to all Hillsborough County residents attending the workshops.
They will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 28 and 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 19. Seating is limited.

Friday
Fun At Senior Fest
Senior Connection will host its 12th annual Senior Fun Fest from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Brandon Community Center, 502 Sadie St., beginning with a Crazy Legs Fun Walk.
Participants in the walk will get T-shirts and enjoy a scavenger hunt and continental breakfast. Goodie bags and prizes also will be featured. Registration for the walk starts at 8 a.m.
The Fun Fest starts at 9 and will include exhibitors, live entertainment, free bingo games, health screenings, giveaways and more. Call (813) 653-1988 or (813) 635-8179 for information.
Saturday
Figure Out Whodunit
Brandon and Valrico actors will perform in a Murders She Wrote dinner theater presentation of the comedy "Murder at the Class Reunion of St. Cecilia's All Girls School" at 6 p.m. at The Grand Hotel, 20967 U.S. 19 N., Clearwater.
Performers include Tracy Borgatti, Heather Cazzolla and Pepper McGowan. The audience will help solve the mystery. Tickets are $47.50 and include dinner and the show.

Protect Fido, Fluffy
The Summerfield community will host a free pet fair to raise awareness about how to care for pets during hurricane season from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Summerfield Community Center, 13011 Summerfield Blvd., Riverview.
Animal lovers of all kinds are invited to see the latest in pet care products and services from vendors. There will be giveaways, information, door prizes and more. Leashed dogs are welcome. Call (813) 671-4568.
All Weekend
Folk Art, Crafts
Talented artisans will be on hand to showcase their works at the Country Folk Art Craft Show from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Charles M. Davis Events Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds.
Featured items will include handcrafted furniture, garden art, quilts, floral arrangements, traditional and fine art, jewelry, soaps, candles, gourmet foods and holiday items.
Admission is $6 for teens and adults 13 and older Friday, $5 Saturday and Sunday. Parking is $5 for cars and $10 for RVs and buses. Visitors are asked to enter the fairgrounds at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard entrance.

Got Goodies For Troops?
The GFWC Brandon Junior Woman's Club is getting ready to launch its annual Operation Holiday Support to benefit military troops.
Supplies to be collected from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30 include black socks, gel insole heels, shaving gel, wrapped hard candy, pre-package snacks, Advil and Tylenol, mouthwash, over-the-counter cold and flu tablets, toothpaste, Clorox wipes, inflatable pillows, travel games, cotton swabs, non-reflective sunglasses, lip balm, deodorant, Febreeze, beef jerky, AA batteries, throat lozenges, eye drops, power bars, Pop-Tarts, dryer sheets, peanuts, dried fruit, DVD movies and other nonperishable items. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:
