DOVER - Seasoned authors as well as those who have always dreamed of a writing career can get pointers from local published authors at the first Hillsborough Inspirational Writers' Retreat from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4 at Cross Creek Ranch, 12950 E. Wheeler Road, Dover.
Hosted by authors Ruth Carmichael Ellinger of Brandon and Debora Coty of Seffner, the workshop is open to writers of all experience levels and will cover everything from the writing process to writing query letters.
"I don't care how long you've been writing, there's always something new you can learn," said Ellinger, the 2008 Writer of the Year for the Florida Conference of American Christian Writers.
"Cross Creek Ranch is a perfect venue for a writers' retreat," she said of the bed and breakfast and outdoor banquet facility nestled in the woods. "In between workshops, writers can talk one-on-one or just sit and meditate in this beautiful setting."
About 35 writers have registered for the retreat so far. The cost is $90 and includes lunch and snacks. Call (813) 685-7387 or e-mail writer@ruthellinger.com.
