SEFFNER - Anyone interested in getting an interpretation of a new law that allows Florida-friendly landscaping, even in homeowners associations that previously prohibited it, can contact Bonnie Hazleton at (850) 245-2121.
Hazleton is the ombudsman for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
The legislature approved the law in July, which prohibits cities, counties and homeowners associations from banning the use of Florida-Friendly landscaping.
Florida-friendly landscaping is a functional, sometimes colorful combination of a wide variety of native and adapted, non-invasive plants. The concept is based on planting the right landscape in the right place for proper irrigation needs.
