Guest Column: Seffner Business Owner Reaches Out

SEFFNER - Courtland Hunt has been busy running his new business, Liberty Tax, but he has managed to make time for some very notable random acts of kindness to benefit families in our community.

Hunt hosted a food drive last month near his office on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. He collected dozens of donations and later distributed the food to local churches that provide for the needy. Hop 4 Fun contributed to the roadside party with a giant jump house for kids to play in, and a local DJ provided entertainment and promoted Christian youth programs in the community.

Another day in January, people who came to a local laundromat between 11 a.m. and noon were pleasantly surprised by Hunt's offer to pay their laundry bill.

He saw another opportunity to step in and help on Inauguration Day, when he was promoting his business dressed in an Uncle Sam suit. He spotted a crowd gathered at the local Taco Bell that was selling tacos for 20 cents that day.

Tempers began to flare after dozens of people in line for two hours or more grew impatient. That's when Hunter decided to run out and buy a few pizzas for the hungry people waiting in line to share.

"I love to do things in the community, and the Seffner community is great," Hunt said. "Everyone has so much gratitude here."
