RIVERVIEW - Upgrades at Hillsborough County's Williams Park Boat Ramp move to the next phase Feb. 23 with the repaving of the park's driveways and parking areas, according to a release from the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department.
The park will remain open during construction, which is part of a $275,000 facelift that began in December 2008 to improve the popular fishing pier and boat launch facility at U.S. Highway 41 and the Alafia River.
Repaving will take about four weeks to complete and will be spread out over a month to lessen the impact to park users, officials said. The work will be done in sections so the park and boat ramp can remain open during construction. The repaving project will cost $130,000.
Other already completed renovations at the park include new decking for the pier, handrails, ramp repairs, changing boat fender bumpers, new water fountains and sidewalks for the picnic shelters.
Restroom renovations are also under way.
The money for the project comes from the Florida Boating Improvement Fund, which boaters pay through registration fees.
