Outdoor Expo, Boat Show

Like your life in the Florida outdoors? Learn more when the 18th annual Tampa Tribune Outdoors Expo and Boat Show is held in Expo Hall and Sweetbay Entertainment Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The event features fishing and hunting gear, outdoor products and a children's fishing derby. There will be demonstrations and seminars. Parking is $5 for cars and $10 for RVs and buses.

Visitors are asked to enter the fairgrounds at the U.S. 301 North entrance. Call (813) 259-8224 for information and ticket prices.

Saturday

Bloomingdale High Schedules Auction

Bloomingdale High's Rajun' Bull Band will host its 21st annual Live Auction starting at 6 p.m. Saturday in the school cafeteria at 1700 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico.

Participants can preview the items at 5:30 p.m. Items to be auctioned include gift certificates for attractions, events tickets, collectibles and a 50-inch plasma TV.

The school jazz band will perform musical favorites. Food will be available. Proceeds will benefit the band. Call (813) 744-8018 for information.

Workshop Planned On Vegetable Gardens

The Hillsborough County Extension Office will hold a workshop on vegetable gardening from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 5339 County Road 579, Seffner.

Topics and times are 9 a.m., Vegetable Gardening 101; 9:30 a.m., Organic Gardening Techniques; 10 a.m., Growing Vegetables in Containers; 10:30 a.m., Pest Management, including demonstrations of gardening techniques.

Wrestling Streak Featured In Film

Are you a fan of the Brandon High wrestling team? A feature documentary on the team's "Streak" will be featured at 6:45 p.m. March 6 at the Channelside movie house No. 6, 615 Channelside Drive, Tampa.

The showing will be one of the features of the Gasparilla International Film Festival Thursday through March 7. Brandon High wrestling coach Russ Cozart will be honored.

Ballerina Ballet Seeks Princesses

The Brandon Ballet invites girls ages 4 to 7 to spend a morning with the Brandon Ballet company.

Participants may wear their own princess costumes or try on a real ballerina costume, learn dance steps, create crafts, decorate cupcakes and have their faces painted.

There also will be souvenir photos and goodie bags. The event will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. March 7 at the Brandon Ballet, 161 E. Bloomingdale Ave., Brandon.

Center Place Hosts Chalk Walk

Center Place Fine Art and Civic Association will host its third annual "Love of the Arts" chalk walk from 1 to 3 p.m. March 14 at 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon.

Each artist will be given chalk, a sidewalk section to create his or her own masterpiece and coupons from area restaurants and businesses.

Children ages 3 and older can enjoy balloon tying, caricatures, face painting, music, hands-on activities, demonstrations, performances, displays and more.
