VALRICO - Trucks and earth-moving machines were on site last week at A Children's Kastle Early Learning Center, where anticipation is building among preschoolers and their parents for a sports and splash park under construction.
Owner Karen Liebler said Kastle Sport and Splash Park, at the day care center on 2.6 acres at Lumsden and Mulrennan roads, will include an outdoor play area with features that spray, bubble, gush and sprinkle water; a 3,000-square-foot outbuilding with kitchen, party and bathroom facilities; a court for roller hockey, basketball, volleyball and tennis; a 10,000-square-foot playground and picnic area; and a dinosaur dig area for pretend geologist play.
The new amenities will be used by preschool and after-school classes during the week and also will be available to the public for rent on weekends.
"We expect Kastle Sport and Splash Park to be a birthday party hit on the weekends for children ages 2 to 14," Liebler said. "We're also looking for a sanctioned roller hockey league to join us and make our sport court their home field."
The splash area, the first phase of the project, will be finished in the spring, followed by the outbuilding, court and playground. Liebler said the last phase of construction may prove to be her favorite.
"The dinosaur dig area is called 'Sixth Day,' which relates to God's creation of dinosaurs on the sixth day," she said.
