VALRICO - Hundreds of people lined up at Five Star Dental Care July 11 to take dentist Jeff Bynum up on his offer to provide free services for anyone without insurance or enough money to pay for treatments. Many camped out overnight at the office. Bynum said the event was a great success.
"We had 30 people volunteer their time and they worked hard all day without complaining," Bynum said.
A band from First Baptist Church of Brandon led by the Rev. David Shenning played throughout the day. Patterson Dental Supply and Kavo Dental donated equipment and supplies. The Compounding Shop of Riverview supplied medication and volunteers to hand out water and fans to some 300 people waiting in line. Chick-fil-A donated food coupons, and Wal-Mart provided 24 cases of water.
Bynum said there was a tremendous outpouring of support from the community that was nice to see.
"One of the ladies who waited in line all day for care went so far as to buy pizza for the others who were patiently waiting to be seen," he said. "We pray that others in the community will find some way that they could give of themselves to help to make a difference."
