Fundraiser tonight for Durant High Thespian Troupe

Mike Wood Lighting and Production Services is hosting a fundraiser tonight for the Durant High Thespian Troupe at the Barn Theatre at Winthrop, 11349 Bloomingdale Ave.

The Durant challenge, issued by theater teacher Edward Mason, is for the Durant High Thespian Troupe to raise $5,000 by July 20 to produce the musical, Alice in Wonderland, in February 2010.

Wood, a 2006 graduate of Durant High School, honed his budding craft while at Durant and is now a student of Theatre Design at the University of South Florida. He credits Joy Rodgers, then his music teacher at Nativity Catholic School, with igniting in him his passion for technical production.

Tickets for tonight's fundraiser are $15.

Doors open at 7 p.m., at which time a silent auction also begins. Dinner is at 8 p.m. and live entertainment will be provided by Durant thespians.
