TAMPA - A preliminary autopsy has been completed on a Brandon woman whose body was found in a storage unit this weekend, according to the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office.
The office referred questions about the autopsy to the sheriff's office, which declined to release details until toxicology results are available.
The body of Terrie Rena Scott, 47, was found Saturday afternoon in a small storage unit at Public Storage, 1007 E. Brandon Blvd. She had suffered upper-body trauma, the sheriff's office said.
Damon Scott said his wife went to Public Storage to retrieve items from a friend's unit.
He arrived at the business looking for his wife about 15 minutes later and drove to the storage unit with the manager, the sheriff's office said. They found Terrie Scott's vehicle outside the unit with the engine running and called the sheriff's office.
Detectives were conducting interviews today, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
Terrie Scott was a legal secretary with the State Attorney's Office for about 20 years before leaving in October 2005.
Hillsborough Circuit Judge Denise Pomponio said Scott was her assistant in the state attorney's domestic violence division.
"We were close," she said. "She got pregnant a few months after I gave birth to my daughter."
Pomponio said Scott contacted her a few months ago about job opportunities.
"I'm going to remember how much she loved her daughter," she said. "I think that's the hardest thing for me to think about now, being that our daughters are about the same age."
