Volunteer For Animal Services
Want to do your part for homeless pets? Hillsborough County Animal Services will hold orientation sessions for residents who wish to join the Volunteer Partnership Program for animals at the shelter.
Duties will include escorting people interested in adopting pets to the kennel area, photographing animals, assisting veterinarians, helping with special events and walking and socializing animals.
Orientations will be at 5:30 p.m. today; 10 a.m. March 21; 10 a.m. April 11; and 5:30 p.m. April 29.
Volunteers must be 16 or older. Candidates will be asked to commit to a minimum of 20 hours of service a month, including weekends.

Woodworkers' 'DIY' Classes
The national company Woodworking Shows will host a three-day event for do-it-yourselfers to showcase the latest tools and techniques of the trade.
Participants can attend free classes, demonstrations and hands-on clinics at the Sweetbay Entertainment Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. 301 N., Tampa.
Show hours are noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $9 at the door for ages 13 and older and free for ages 12 and younger. Discounted tickets are available at www.woodworkingshows.com.
Parking costs $5 for cars or $10 for RVs and buses. Visitors are asked to enter the fairgrounds at the U.S. 301 North entrance.

Country Singer At Dallas Bull
Recording artist and songwriter Pat Green will perform some of his country hits at 7 p.m. at the Dallas Bull, 3322 U.S. 301 N., Tampa.
Green's hits include "Wave on Wave," "Feels Just Like It Should" and his most recent single, "Let Me."
Tickets are $9.95 in advance through Ticketmaster or at www.dallasbull.com, or $15 at the door.

Saturday
St. Patrick's Day Variety Show
St. Andrew's United Methodist Church will host a St. Patrick's Day variety show and dinner starting at 6 p.m. at 3315 Bryan Road, Brandon.
The theme is South Seas. Proceeds will benefit the church's Texas and Mississippi hurricane mission, Zambia medical mission and local ministry efforts.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children or $25 for families. Tickets can be purchased at the church during office hours. Call (813) 689-6849.
Discover Florida's Food History
Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Libraries welcome "Road Scholar" Andrew Huse at 1 p.m. at the 78th Street Community Library, 7625 Palm River Road, Tampa.
Huse will discuss how Florida's food and restaurants are as diverse as its people, and how they have changed throughout the 20th century.
He offers a culinary romp through cuisine, with a look back at union soup houses, African jook joints, shady speak-easies, drive-in stands and fish fries.
The program is cosponsored by the development committee of the Friends of the Library of Tampa-Hillsborough County and the Florida Humanities Council.

Center Place Hosts Chalk Walk
Center Place Fine Art and Civic Association will host its third annual Love of the Arts chalk walk from 1 to 3 p.m. at Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon.
Each artist will be given chalk, a sidewalk section to create his or her masterpiece and coupons from restaurants and businesses.
Children ages 3 and older can enjoy balloon tying, caricatures, face painting, music, activities, demonstrations, performances, displays and more. Call (813) 685-8888.
