Studio Digitally Preserves Life Stories

Published: March 11, 2009

VALRICO - Dominick and Dulce Pages were a little nervous when the camera started to roll, but before long the couple settled into a sofa and regaled their interviewer, Leah Clark, with tales of their lifetime adventures thus far.

A sample of the video shot at the Pages' recording session at Crystal Blue Sound Studios in Bloomingdale shows Clark reacting with delight to stories the couple tell about their 65 years of married life.

But when Dulce Pages shared a hitherto untold tale about how her mother initially forbade her to see Dominick, no one was more surprised than the cameraman - the Pages' son, also named Dominick, owner of the sound studio.

Pages shot the video of his parents at the studio to use as a product demo for a new service he offers. He calls it Audio Autobiographies, a full-scale audio, video, editing and mastering service to digitally preserve the life stories of loved ones, young and old.

The demo is now a cherished family keepsake.

"I basically sat them down and my colleague Leah Clark, who has a very soothing way, interviewed them," Pages said. "They told their story, and it's really moving."

He knew his parents had eloped when his mother was 15, but he was surprised to learn that his grandmother had forbidden the couple to date and made his mother return a ring Dominick had given her.

"I guess when it's meant to be, it's meant to be," he said.

Pages offers a variety of keepsake packages that include any combination of audio, video, slideshows, original music and more. He even edited old video of his parents singing karaoke into their keepsake CD.

"My parents really enjoyed the process, and my family is all thrilled with it," he said. "

He came up with the idea while brainstorming for ways to diversify his product line - and because he wanted to have something to archive for his parents.

"Too many of us have such hectic schedules, and time is passing us by at the blink of an eye," he said.

The first-hand accounts also preserve the accuracy and authenticity of family stories for generations to come.

"They talk about how they met, when they had kids, how they treaded through life and different jobs or how they started a family business," he said. "This way, they kind of live on forever."
