SOUTH SHORE - If you have a neighbor worthy of being honored as a good Samaritan, here's your chance to make that happen.
The Hillsborough County Office of Neighborhood Relations is looking for nominees for the summer quarter 2009 Lonnie Lea Napier Good Neighbor Award.
Individuals, neighborhood associations and community groups may submit nominations until June 12. All Hillsborough residents are eligible to nominate or be nominated.
The nominee must demonstrate an ongoing spirit of compassion and helpfulness to his or her neighbors. The award comes with a $2,000 grant to be awarded to the neighborhood association serving the area in which the recipient lives.
The Board of County Commissioners established the award in 2000 in honor of Lonnie Lea Napier, a county resident who died after falling from a tree while trying to rescue a neighbor's cat.
One annual award winner will be selected from among the 2009 quarterly winners, and the Board of County Commissioners will present that honor next spring
To get a nomination form, visit www.hillsboroughcounty.org/onr/ awardnom and click on the link for the online nomination form at the bottom of the page.
