Get ready to celebrate Novemberfest

BRANDON - Novemberfest, one of Brandon's premiere fall events, is about to kick off.

The family-friendly carnival held at Nativity Catholic Church, at the corner of Bryan Road and State Road 60, runs Nov 11 to 15.

This year, an addition to the carnival, midway and food extravaganza is a Salute to Veterans on Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The church will recognize active and retired military personnel at noon. This is also a school holiday.

In addition to rides and food, more than 80 bands and entertainment acts have been booked.

Novemberfest, the third largest community event in Hillsborough County, beat only by the Florida State Fair and the Florida Strawberry Festival, will also feature bingo in the social hall on Nov 14, and drawings will be held throughout the week to help raise money for the church and school.

Admission and parking are free. Advance discount food and ride tickets are available from Nativity students or Faith Formation students, as well as from volunteers in the social hall after all masses.

The event kicks off on Friday with a registration dinner for Saturday's 5K Fun Run/Walk. Advanced registration forms are available online at www.nativitycatholic school.org/novemberfest.
Thrill seekers have until Nov. 9 to purchase armbands for $16, giving access to unlimited rides. Food tickets sold in advance are 10 for $9. Once the early deadline passes, armbands will sell for $22, and food ticket sheets will be $10 and only available on the carnival grounds.

The family-friendly carnival is the church's largest fundraiser, supporting the education of children attending Nativity Catholic School and the church's religious education programs. This is the 40th Novemberfest.

More than 9,000 volunteer hours go into making the festival successful.
