LAKE PLACID - An emergency 96-hour boil water notice was issued for Lake Placid today because of a water main break, according to the Town of Lake Placid Utilities Department.
The boil water notice is in effect from 9 tonight to 9 p.m. Wednesday following a water main break on U.S. Highway 27 and Fay Drive, according to authorities.
The areas affected include the east side of U.S. 27 South from Alderman Drive to the Terraces on Lake McCoy and persons east of U.S. 27 to Crockett Road on Highway 621, the notice said.
Those in the Lake Blue Area and Holiday Inn do not need to boil water, the notice said.
The Town of Lake Placid suggested all water used for drinking or cooking be brought to a rolling boil of one minute or longer. Bottled water may be used as an alternate.
