ROTC GRADUATES: These Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) members graduated from the Leader's Training Course:

•From Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. - Demi L. Jones, daughter of Daniel and Diane Jones of Lithia. The cadet is a student at the University of California, Los Angeles.

•From Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. - David W. Hughes, son of Harwood and Dorothy Hughes of Lithia. His wife, Laura, is the daughter of Frank and Debbie Mitchell of Valrico. He graduated in 2000 from Armwood High School.

•From Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. - Antonio G. Figueroa, son of Perfecto and Gloria Figueroa of Riverview and is a 2006 graduate of East Bay High School.

RECEIVED ROTC SCHOLARSHIP: Cadet Nathan C. Gibbs received an Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) four-year college scholarship at the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Va., and will be commissioned as second lieutenant in the Army after graduation. He is the son of Stephen and Tia Gibbs of Riverview and a 2009 graduate of Newsome High School.

INFANTRY TRAINING GRADUATE: Army Pvt. Marc A. Stickelman has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Karla Stickelman of Riverview and is a 2009 graduate of East Bay High School.

ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TRAINING: Army National Guard Pfc. Benjamin T. Frazier has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Frances Rice of Brandon and a 2009 graduate of Brandon High School.

DEPLOYED TO IRAQ: Air Force Airman 1st Class Brian Montoya has deployed overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Montoya, a loadmaster with one year of military service, is normally assigned to the 437th Airlift Wing at Charleston Air Force Base, S.C. He is the son of Orlando Montoya and Gladys Betancur of Lithia. The airman is a 2005 graduate of Riverview High School.

PROMOTED IN RANK: Dianna J. Johnson-Wild has been promoted to the rank of Airman in the Air Force Medical Operations Squadron. She is the daughter of Candy Johnson of Brandon and is a 2007 graduate of Brandon High School.

COMBAT TRAINING GRADUATES: These soldiers graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

•Army National Guard Pvt. Andrew G. Thomas, son of Arlene Thomas of Riverview and a 2008 graduate of Spoto High School.

•Army Pfc. Paul O. Cuzzupe II, son of Annette Kirk of Seffner and grandson of Judy Allard of Plant City. The private is a 2005 graduate of Armwood High School.

AIRMEN COMPLETE TRAINING: These airmen graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio:

•Michael Dennis, son of Donna Dennis of Valrico and Arthur Dennis of Cobb Island, Md.

•Greig L. Gilbert, son of Tina Gilbert of Riverview and a 2006 graduate of Riverview High School.

•Stephen J. Guerre, son of John and Lisa Guerre of Riverview and a 2009 graduate of East Bay High School.

•Richard G. Smith, son of Edward and Teresa Smith of Riverview and a 2005 graduate of Riverview High School.

•Curtis A. Wilson Jr., son of Curtis and Teresa Wilson of Brandon and a 2003 graduate of Tampa Bay Technical High School.

•Bethany D. Marrero, daughter of Clemente Marrero of Lompoc, Calif., and niece of Troy Wright of Seffner. Marrero is a 2005 graduate of Riverview High School.

RETURNED FROM IRAQ DEPLOYMENT: Army Spec. Ashley R. Diaz has returned to the United States after being deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is regularly assigned to the 601st Area Support Hospital at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C. Diaz, a patient administration specialist, has served in the military for three years. She is the daughter of Pessy Rivera of Valrico.
