Published: October 14, 2009

TAMPA - Every year, 20,000 rubber ducks race down the Hillsborough River to help end hunger in this area.

America's Second Harvest, a warehouse on the western edge of Tampa that provides donated food to local food banks, is hosting the Lucky Ducky Derby Oct. 25 at the Tampa Convention Center.

The Lucky Ducky Derby is a featured event at the Tampa Bay International Auto Show.

By adopting a duck for $5, the donation provides meals for a child at school for an entire week or provides meals to homebound senior citizens in Tampa Bay.

Every person who enters the race by "adopting" a duck or ducks will provide needed financial support to the local food bank. America's Second Harvest.

Every duck instantly qualifies for a free ticket to the 20th annual Tampa Bay International Auto Show - a $9 value.

Entrants will also be eligible to win prizes such as four tickets to the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami, a Toshiba laptop, a weekend package to Universal Studios, airline tickets and more.

The top five winners will be invited to participate in a hockey shootout at a Lightning game to win $10,000.
