BRANDON - Five small businesses were honored in a big way Thursday by the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce.
Fifteen finalists were in the running for the chamber's Small Business of the Year Award from more than 200 companies nominated. The prize lauds entrepreneurial spirit, organizational growth and development and a commitment to community service.
A panel of judges from SCORE, the Service Corp. of Retired Executives, whittled the competition down to one winner in each of five categories, and the victors were announced Thursday at a gala at Crowne Plaza Tampa East.
