In February 2008 the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners directed the Planning Department and Planning Commission to study the Interstate 4 corridor "to identify opportunities for economic development."
Why not South Hillsborough County along Interstate 75? At least I-75 actually goes through other states. Why not Ruskin?
The South Shore Corporate Park there has 4.4 million square feet of shovel-ready light industrial space going begging for tenants.
The map on the cover of the June 2009 County Economic Stimulus Task Force Report shows Hillsborough County ending just below this "Hi-Tech Corridor" along what looks like the bank of the Alafia River as if south of that river was unexplored territory.
It is more than obvious that South Hillsborough needs to come together now more than ever to pull up our own bootstraps and quit waiting for a helping hand coming from the north.
