Bucs cornerback Torrie Cox was born and raised in Miami. He played running back at Miami Northwestern High in the Liberty City area. He and Antonio Bryant were teammates and led the Bulls to a 16-0 record and Class 6A state championship in 1998. Alonso High baseball coach Landy Faedo recently earned a pretty big coaching honor. Faedo was named the American Baseball Coaches Association/Diamond High School Regional Coach of the Year. Faedo was one of eight high school coaches honored at the Division I level. He was the Region 3 selection. ...more

Alonso High senior baseball player Tyler Ding has verbally committed to the University of Tampa, Ravens coach Landy Faedo said Tuesday. Ding, Alonso's starting second baseman, had a huge junior season, hitting .476 with eight doubles, two home runs, 26 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 23 stolen bases for the Class 6A state champion Ravens. He earned Class 6A first-team all-state honors and was a Tribune All-Hillsborough County first-team pick. ...more
