I'm contacting you in response to the article in Wednesday's Tribune about the Tourist Development Council's funding of events and particularly the Pasco Bug Jam. As a former Tribune reporter, I would have thought you would have contacted Bug Jam officials for comment before printing the claims by Pasco County Commissioner Michael Cox. The Fourth of July brought old-fashioned fun to the Pasco County Fairgrounds. The annual Sparklebration included apple pie and hot dog eating contests, balloon artists, clowns and more, and parachutists from Skydive City in Zephyrhills dropped in with flags. Major sponsors were Medical Clinic and Dade City Business Center. Recently the Heartland Riders Association went before the Board of the Tourist Development Council to request the balance of the $15,500 that had been budgeted for the Run to the Heartland Event held in October.
